About Me

A Message from Liz

Hi, my name is Liz and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who is passionate and committed to supporting you through your difficulties. I understand that life presents us with many challenges that can be really debilitating. This could be in response to a specific event, present ongoing existential anxieties or in response to long-term, complex struggles that you have been trying to manage alone. My approach is to truly listen and understand your difficulties and to collaboratively work together with you. I firmly believe that a therapeutic relationship, based on trust, plays a fundamental role within the healing process. My aim is to provide a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental space for you, where you not only feel able to safely explore how you feel, but are gently supported to gain a greater understanding of yourself and obtain a renewed clarity. Together, we will identify your goals and innate resources, thereby facilitating you to achieve symptomatic relief. Rather than experiencing stress, struggle and anxiety, you will feel empowered to authentically move forwards in a positive direction.

I work with adults who are 16 years and over and work on a long or short-term basis. I draw from a wealth of knowledge and experience, amalgamating the medical and psychological model, my intuition and personal experience. I have worked for twenty years within the NHS, as a Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor in the hospital and the community, which provides me with a rich foundation to draw from. Furthermore, as supported by research, I believe that the mind and body is interconnected, and so with my background I am able to offer a truly holistic perspective to your psychological and emotional care.  As an integrative therapist I have been based at the Priory hospital and a London GP surgery, however now work in private practice. My MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy incorporated training in CBT, the Humanistic approach and the Psychodynamic philosophy. I also practice compassion focused therapy (CFT), DBT and the significance of utilising ‘mindfulness’ and psychoeducation. My therapeutic approach is adapted in accordance to your needs, goals and preferences, considering sensitively that we are all richly diverse individuals, incorporating our unique human experiences, culture, religion, ethnicity and sexuality.

I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, trauma, shame and self-criticism, low self-esteem and emotional abuse. Furthermore, I am also interested in the dynamics of relationships and working with the challenges that emerge, with others and ourselves, acknowledging that some of these patterns may have arisen from earlier experiences.

A specialist interest where I have vast experience, is working within women’s health, incorporating pre and post-pregnancy and those who are struggling with postnatal depression. In addition, the peri-menopause and menopause which can be physically and emotionally immense and disabling. Bereavement is also an enormous life transition, which I sensitively manage with care.

As a member of the BACP (MBACP), I adhere to their ethical framework.
