As human beings, we are neurologically wired to be in connection with others and thrive ‘within relationship’. A healthy attachment plays a fundamental role within our development from being a baby, and healthy relationships play a key role in ensuring our psychological well-being as an adult.They help us feel loved, validated, supported, connected to others and enable us to experience a sense of belonging. These are crucial needs that we require as human beings.
Therefore, in opposition, relational difficulties can be the source of enormous anxiety and distress.
Common signs of relationship difficulties include:
- Feeling misunderstood or unsupported by loved ones
- Having difficulty communicating and expressing your desires and needs
- Experiencing a continuation of arguments, disagreements or unresolved conflicts

These issues can occur in any type of relationship, such as a partner, family member, friend or colleague. Difficulties can range from minor disagreements, to prolonged problems, that can threaten the foundations of the relationship itself.

Coming for one-to-one counselling as an individual regarding your relationship difficulties, is an opportunity to explore the areas within your relationship that is troubling you. It provides a unique space, separate from the rest of your life and from individuals in your life, where you can begin to unravel, engage with and explore the situation/s that are occurring. This then enables you to gain a greater self-awareness and make sense of your situation, which then leads to a greater understanding of your difficult emotions and consequential behaviours.
